ThunderCats (2011) Ep 01-02 Omens Part 1 and 2 - Review

ThunderCats (2011) Episode 1:

" The Sword of Omens - Omens Part 1"

Lion-O, who is constantly sneaking out of the palace, is caught up in a fight with a helpless dog and some "alley cats". He decides to step in and help. When it looks like he's outmatched, he's suddenly helped by a stranger: Cheetara.

Lion-O shows Cheetara the reason he came to that part of town, technology, which he buys from a dealer and tries to find out how it works.

Unfortunately, he discovers he's late for a ritual of initiation and leaves. He arrives at the palace late and then undergoes the ritual of being chosen by the Sword of Omens to be the next king of Thundera. He has a vision involving a demonic being with glowing red eyes. Not knowing if anyone will believe what he's seen, he makes up a story and leaves with Tygra.

His father Claudus does not feel Lion-O is ready to be king, being too lenient and easily distracted by flights of fancy and myths of ancient technology. Soon after, King Claudus welcomes the return of General Grune, his old friend. All the people are saddened to learn the General Panthro had fallen in battle.

Claudus holds a celebration in both Grune's honor and in memory of the fallen Panthro. During the event, Lion-O defends a pair of captured Lizards and convinces his father to release them. 

ThunderCats (2011) Episode 2:

" Ancient Spirits of Evil - Omens Part 2"

The next day, Thundera is attacked by Lizards who have acquired salvaged technology. It is soon discovered that Grune has joined the Lizards, and that Panthro is being held hostage. Lion-O comes to his father's aid, allowing Claudus to rescue Panthro. But 'Panthro' murders the king and reveals himself to be Mumm-Ra, an ancient nemesis of the Thundercats, in disguise.

Lion-O and Tygra are captured along with Jaga and Cheetara. However, due to his kindess to the Lizard prisoners, Lion-O was given a key hidden in his meal, allowing him to escape with Tygra to mount a rescue.

Mumm-Ra wants the stone in the sword which he claims is his, and tortures Jaga to get him to remove a curse that prevents evil from touching the Sword of Omens. Lion-O and Tygra rescue Jaga and Cheetara, who is now revealed to be one of Jaga’s clerics, with Lion-O grabbing the sword to blast Mumm-Ra out into open as the rising sun's rays harm him.

Forced to leave Jaga, who sacrifices himself to ensure their escape, Lion-O, Tygra, and Cheetara undertake the quest to find the Book of Omens.

ThunderCats (2011) Episodio 1:

"La Espada del Augurio - Presagios Parte 1"

León-O, que está constantemente saliendo a hurtadillas del palacio, se encuentra atrapado en una pelea con un perro indefenso y algunos "gatos callejeros". Él decide intervenir y ayudar. Cuando parece que está superado, de pronto es ayudado por un extraño: Chitara.

León-O muestra a Chitara la razón por la que fue a esa parte de la ciudad, la tecnología, que compra a un distribuidor y trata de averiguar cómo funciona.

Desafortunadamente, él se da cuenta que ya es tarde para llegar a su ritual de iniciación y se va rápidamente. Él llega tarde al palacio y luego se somete al ritual para ser elegido por la Espada del Augurio como el próximo rey de Thundera. Él tiene una visión que involucra a un ser demoníaco con ojos rojos brillantes. Sin saber si alguien va a creerle, prefiere no mencionar lo que ha visto y se inventa una historia y luego se va con Tigro.

Su padre Claudus siente que León-O no está listo para ser el rey, porque es demasiado indulgente además  se distrae fácilmente dejando volar su imaginación en fantasías y mitos de la antigua tecnología. Poco después, el rey Claudus recibe con alegría el regreso del general Grune, su viejo amigo, pero al mismo tiempo, él y todo el pueblo se entristeció al conocer la noticia de que el General Pantro había caído en la batalla.

Claudus realiza una gran celebración en honor a Grune y a la memoria del caído Pantro. Durante el evento, León-O defiende a un par de lagartos capturados y convence a su padre a ponerlos en libertad. 

ThunderCats (2011) Episodio 2:

"Antiguos Espíritus del Mal - Presagios Parte 2"

Al día siguiente, Thundera es atacado por los lagartos que han adquirido la tecnología. Rápidamente se descubre que Grune se ha unido a los lagartos y que Pantro ahora es su rehén. León-O viene en ayuda de su padre, lo que permite a Claudus rescatar a Pantro. Pero "Pantro" asesina a traición al rey y pronto se quita su disfraz y se revela como Mumm-Ra, un enemigo ancestral de los Thundercats.

León-O y Tigro son capturados junto con Jaga y Chitara. Sin embargo, debido a la compasión que antes había demostrado a los prisioneros lagartos, León-O recibe como pago la llave de su celda oculta en su comida, lo que le permite escapar con Tigro para elaborar un plan de contraataque.

Mumm-Ra quiere la piedra de la espada que según él es suya y tortura a Jaga para que quite la maldición que evita que el mal entre en contacto con la Espada del Augurio. León-O y Tigro rescatan a Jaga y Chitara, quien ahora se revela como uno de los clérigos de Jaga. León-O logra recuperar la espada y con ella lanza un poderoso rayo a Mumm-Ra que lo lanza fuera, a espacio abierto, dejándolo indefenso a los rayos del sol naciente, lo que le provoca mucho daño.

Obligados a dejarlo, Jaga se sacrifica para asegurar el escape de León-O, Tigro y Chitara quienes emprenden la búsqueda para encontrar el Libro del Augurio.

Premise

The series began with an hour-long premiere on Cartoon Network on July 29, 2011. The show started airing on 10 September 2011 in the United Kingdom.

The show has received positive reviews from critics and fans of the original series and has also brought the franchise to a new audience.

The story of this new series differs greatly from the original ThunderCats. Instead of having to leave the planet Thundera the characters are forced to abandon their destroyed nation.

Chronicles

For generations, the Thunderians have lived and thrived in the kingdom of Thundera. However, one night the kingdom is attacked by the Lizard army led by the evil sorcerer Mumm-Ra and Grune the Destroyer. After Thundera is destroyed, a small band of surviving Thunderians led by the young heir to the throne Lion-O (who wields the powerful Sword of Omens) flees in order to seek out the Book of Omens, which is said to have the knowledge needed to defeat Mumm-Ra. Even when they find it, they must keep the Book of Omens from falling into the wrong hands and find a way to defeat Mumm-Ra once and for all. The Thundercats discover that they have to find three stones of power before Mumm-Ra does. A fourth stone of power is revealed by the book, the Eye of Thundera, which is embedded in the Sword of Omens.

Premisa

La serie comenzó con una hora de duración (especial por el estreno), en Cartoon Network el 29 de julio de 2011.

El programa comenzó a transmitirse el 10 de septiembre de 2011 en el Reino Unido. La serie ha recibido comentarios positivos de los críticos y fans de la serie original, y también ha traído a la franquicia a un nuevo público.

La historia de esta nueva serie se diferencia mucho de los Thundercats originales. En lugar de tener que abandonar el planeta Thundera los personajes se ven obligados a abandonar su nación destruida.

Crónicas

Durante generaciones, los Thunderianos han vivido y prosperado en el reino de Thundera. Sin embargo, una noche el reino es atacado por el ejército Lagarto dirigido por el malvado hechicero Mumm-Ra y Grune el Destructor. Después que Thundera es destruida, un pequeño grupo de supervivientes Thunderianos liderados por el joven heredero al trono de León-O (que es el portador de la increíble Espada del Augurio) huyen con el fin de buscar el Libro del Augurio, que se dice que tiene los conocimientos necesarios para derrotar a Mumm-Ra. Incluso cuando lo encuentren, deben cuidar que el libro no caiga en manos equivocadas y usarlo para derrotar a Mumm-Ra de una vez por todas. Los Thundercats descubren que tienen que encontrar tres piedras de poder antes que Mumm-Ra lo haga. Una cuarta piedra de poder es revelada por el libro, el Ojo de Thundera, que está incrustado en la Espada del Augurio.
